Braelon Allen
Braelon Allen Misses another practice
Thu, Jul 31, 2025, 3:33 PM
Allen (knee) remained sidelined during practice Thursday, Susanna Weir and Eric Allen of the Jets' official site report.
Analysis: Allen now has missed two straight practice with knee soreness. However, prior to that, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic relayed that the 2024 fourth-rounder had been having a strong training camp, noting that Allen -- who officially is listed at 6-foot-1, 235 pounds -- "looks bigger, faster and stronger" than he did as a rookie, when he logged 92 carries in 17 regular-season games while working behind lead back Breece Hall (209 carries).
Mason Taylor
Mason Taylor Likely to start immediately
Thu, Jul 31, 2025, 1:01 PM
Taylor looks ready to start out of the gate and has been operating ahead of Jeremy Ruckert and Stone Smartt in training camp, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Taylor has demonstrated good chemistry with quarterback Justin Fields and drawn praise from wide receiver Garrett Wilson for his playmaking ability. The rookie second-round pick's main competitors for snaps at tight end, Ruckert and Smartt, have combined for only one touchdown catch in 79 regular-season NFL games.
Tyler Johnson
Tyler Johnson Leading candidate for WR3 role?
Thu, Jul 31, 2025, 12:50 PM
Johnson appears to be the frontrunner for the third spot on the Jets' wide receiver depth chart, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Johnson has impressed the coaching staff with his athleticism and ability to get open by anticipating defensive backs' moves. The veteran wide receiver signed a one-year contract with the Jets in March without much fanfare, but he's putting himself in position to get playing time alongside Garrett Wilson and Josh Reynolds. Other receivers vying for roster spots include Arian Smith, Allen Lazard, Malachi Corley, Xavier Gipson and Jamaal Pritchett.
Isaiah Davis
Isaiah Davis Getting more opportunities in camp
Thu, Jul 31, 2025, 12:40 PM
Davis has gotten additional reps in practice in the absence of Braelon Allen (knee), Nick Wojton of USA Today Jets Wire reports.
Analysis: Allen sat out Tuesday due to knee soreness, paving the way for Davis to get more opportunities alongside lead back Breece Hall. Davis, Allen and Hall all appear to be locks to make the regular-season roster, with the Jets set to use the same backfield personnel while employing a new offensive scheme under a new coaching staff. After being selected in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft out of South Dakota State, Davis had 30 carries for 174 yards and a touchdown, as well as nine catches for 75 yards and a touchdown on 12 targets, in his rookie campaign with the Jets.
Justin Fields
Justin Fields Practicing with toe shield
Tue, Jul 29, 2025, 6:42 PM
Fields is practicing with a plastic shield on his cleat to protect his dislocated toe, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: "We get our feet stepped on all the time at practice, so it just felt normal at first when I got stepped on. But I tried walking off and it just felt weird, like something was stuck in my toe," Fields said. "I didn't know what to think. I just knew something was wrong. ... Luckily, they said it was just dislocated." Fields has returned to team drills this week, and there's been zero concern out of Jets camp that the quarterback is dealing with any sort of long-term issue. Barring a setback, Fields will be under center for the Week 1 opener.
Braelon Allen
Braelon Allen Nursing knee soreness
Tue, Jul 29, 2025, 9:33 AM
Allen (knee) did not practice Tuesday due to soreness, Andy Vasquez of The Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Allen will be re-evaluated before practice Thursday, as the Jets have an off-day Wednesday. There are no indications that the second-year running back is dealing with anything serious. Allen has looked explosive during the early stages of training camp and is pushing for an increased role alongside Breece Hall in Year 2.
Zach Evans
Zach Evans Set to retire from NFL
Mon, Jul 28, 2025, 8:00 PM
The Jets placed Evans (undisclosed) on the reserve/retired list Monday, Eric Allen of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Evans signed a reserve/future contract with the Jets in January after joining the team's practice squad in mid-December, but the 24-year-old will hang up his cleats. The 2023 sixth-rounder last saw regular-season action during his rookie campaign with the Rams, when he logged nine carries for 19 yards in 10 games while mostly serving on special teams. Evans finished his three-year college career with Ole Miss in 2022, where he rushed for 936 yards and nine touchdowns on 144 carries while adding 12 catches for 119 yards and one touchdown across 11 games.
Josh Reynolds
Josh Reynolds Clear favorite for No. 2 WR role
Mon, Jul 28, 2025, 2:45 PM
Reynolds is "the clear-cut leader" to be the Jets' No. 2 wide receiver, according to Mike Reiss of ESPN.com.
Analysis: Reports from June minicamp marked Reynolds as the early leader, ahead of Allen Lazard, Arian Smith, Malachi Corley and others. Reynolds apparently has reinforced that notion in the early days of training camp, regularly making plays with the first-team offense. He's 30 years old and has never topped 618 receiving yards in a season, but Reynolds does have 55 NFL starts to his name.
Allen Lazard
Allen Lazard Sliding down depth chart?
Mon, Jul 28, 2025, 2:41 PM
Lazard has "fallen back in the receiver pecking order," according to Mike Reiss of ESPN.com.
Analysis: Lazard agreed to a pay cut this offseason, slashing his base salary from $11 million to $2.5 million after mostly disappointing through the first two seasons of a three-year contract. The No. 2 WR spot in New York is up for grabs, but it sounds like Josh Reynolds has moved ahead of Lazard and others as the favorite. Lazard could perhaps still make a move for the role, but he's also a candidate to be released if he doesn't perform well this summer.
Justin Fields
Justin Fields Eased back into team drills
Mon, Jul 28, 2025, 12:32 PM
Though Fields (toe) participated in team drills Monday, coach Aaron Glenn noted that the QB was still limited to a degree, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: With regard to Fields, who dislocated a toe on his right foot last Thursday, Glenn noted Monday, "He was limited, but he was limited the way we wanted him to be limited." With that in mind, Cimini suggested that the limitations Glenn may be referring to pertain to play selection, with the QB mostly working from the pocket (with no scripted dynamic scrambles) during Monday's session.
Justin Fields
Justin Fields Returns to practice
Mon, Jul 28, 2025, 8:39 AM
Fields (toe) returned to 11-on-11 drills Monday, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports.
Analysis: The Jets' presumed starting quarterback suffered a dislocated toe on his right foot Thursday, limiting his participation in the next few practices. He now appears back to all activity, giving him more than enough time to gear up for the preseason and Week 1. There's a chance we see a good bit of Fields during exhibition games, considering the Jets have a new coaching staff and a relatively inexperienced group of projected starters on offense.
Justin Fields
Justin Fields Considered day to day
Fri, Jul 25, 2025, 9:52 AM
Jets coach Aaron Glenn said Friday that Fields is "day to day" and won't be rushed back into practice, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports.
Analysis: Fields was out on the practice field Friday morning, one day after suffering a toe dislocation, but it sounds like he didn't actually participate in any of the team drills. Tyrod Taylor took over as the first-team QB, with Fields mostly observing from the side.
Justin Fields
Justin Fields Dressed for practice
Fri, Jul 25, 2025, 8:58 AM
Fields (toe) is present for practice Friday, but Tyrod Taylor took the first QB rep of team drills, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Fields was diagnosed with a dislocated toe after an early exit from practice Thursday. His participation seems to be limited Friday, but it's still a good sign that he's out on the field in uniform just one day after suffering the injury. New York's offense otherwise looks healthy early in training camp, with RT Armand Membou (seventh overall pick) and TE Mason Taylor (42nd pick) being the big offseason additions after a quiet free-agency period.
Justin Fields
Justin Fields Day-to-day, per Jets
Thu, Jul 24, 2025, 1:11 PM
A medical evaluation revealed that Fields sustained a dislocated toe in his right foot during Thursday's practice and is viewed by the Jets as day-to-day.
Analysis: While Fields' short-term practice status figures to be impacted by the issue, the Jets confirmed that the QB avoided a serious injury and as a result is not in line to miss significant time. Look for top backup Tyrod Taylor to log added snaps until Fields is next able to practice fully.
Justin Fields
Justin Fields Diagnosed with dislocated toe
Thu, Jul 24, 2025, 10:00 AM
Fields was diagnosed with a dislocated toe after exiting Thursday's practice, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Fields left the field on a cart and was said to be limping some. He reportedly avoided a fracture, but he's still undergoing further testing to analyze the full severity of his injury. For now, we know that it's a dislocated toe -- and not the big toe -- on his right foot. Tyrod Taylor figures to temporarily take over as the first-team quarterback, at least for the next few practices.
Justin Fields
Justin Fields Suffers toe injury
Thu, Jul 24, 2025, 9:30 AM
Fields suffered a toe injury of unknown severity during Thursday's practice, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Fields came off the practice field gingerly Thursday morning and was then carted back to the team facility. Jets coach Aaron Glenn specified after practice that the QB suffered a toe injury, but Glenn didn't comment on the potential severity or whether Fields is expected to undergo an MRI, per Rich Cimini of ESPN.com. It sounds like QB Tyrod Taylor may take over New York's first-team offense for at least the next few days.
Justin Fields
Justin Fields Exits practice with injury
Thu, Jul 24, 2025, 8:43 AM
Fields left Thursday's practice early with an apparent lower leg injury, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Fields came off the practice field and was briefly evaluated by trainers, before being carted back to the team's indoor facility. Al Iannazzone of Newsday notes that the quarterback was moving gingerly but still able to put weight on his injured leg, including walking the rest of the way once the cart arrived near the facility. Tyrod Taylor will take over as the first-team QB for the rest of Thursday's practice.
Malachi Corley
Malachi Corley Back at practice
Wed, Jul 23, 2025, 6:35 PM
Corley (undisclosed) participated in Wednesday's practice, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Corley missed most of OTAs and minicamp due to an undisclosed injury. He was cleared to return to practice Wednesday but struggled during 11-on-11 drills, and the 2024 third-rounder will have to make the most of his reps during training camp to earn a spot on the Jets' 53-man roster for the 2025 campaign. Corley played just 80 offensive snaps across nine regular-season games last year, posting three catches (on six targets) for 16 yards while rushing for 26 yards on two carries.
Braelon Allen
Braelon Allen Larger role expected in 2025
Wed, Jul 23, 2025, 3:44 PM
Allen looked explosive on the first day of training camp Wednesday, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports, and Rosenblatt expects Allen to play a larger role in the running back's second NFL season.
Analysis: Allen came out of the gate hot in his rookie season but averaged only 3.1 yards per carry from Week 5 onward. The 2024 fourth-round pick out of Wisconsin was the youngest player in the NFL at the start of last season and won't turn 22 years old until Jan. 20, so some growing pains were to be expected. If he can successfully run with power behind his 6-foot-1, 235-pound frame, Allen could effectively complement shifty lead back Breece Hall, though 2024 fifth-round draft pick Isaiah Davis is also trying to carve out a role in a Jets backfield that's unchanged from 2024 in terms of personnel.
Mason Taylor
Mason Taylor Gets $9.6 million guaranteed
Fri, Jul 18, 2025, 2:06 PM
Taylor signed his four-year rookie contract with the Jets on Friday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Taylor's four-year, $10.5 million contract includes $9.6 million in guaranteed money. The Jets now have all their draft picks under contract, one day before rookies are set to report to training camp. Taylor, whom the Jets drafted 42nd overall in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, will compete for the starting tight-end role against Jeremy Ruckert and Stone Smartt, who have one regular-season NFL touchdown between them.
